THE INDIE AWARDS 2017: Winners’ Recap

With THE INDIE AWARDS 2018 fast approaching, we at thenetworkone felt it was time to revisit last year’s winners.

THE INDIE AWARDS 2017 received entries from agencies on every inhabited continent. Today it is still the only large-scale awards created for independent agencies and judged exclusively by independent agencies.

Whilst all of the entries had their own unique strengths, there could only be one winner in each category.

Best Creativity & Best in Show

Title: “Only One Captain Morgan”

Agency: RPM

Client: Diageo


With Leicester City football team taking the Premier League by storm behind their captain, Wes Morgan, this campaign seized on the naming coincidence for Captain Morgan rum and produced a campaign that saw Captain Morgan sell out in the city of Leicester in just 24 hours! Best Media

Title: “The Recruits / Die Rekruten”

Agency: Crossmedia, Germany

Client: Federal Armed Forces


This unique campaign had the newest members of Germany’s armed forces vlogging about their experiences. Over 12 weeks and 80 episodes, the campaign turned 12 ordinary recruits into Germany’s top new influencers and reached an audience of 40 million! Check out the video below:

Best PR/ Earned Media

Title: “The Big Mistake”

Agency: Brand Portal

Client: Discovery Italia SRL


This love-ly campaign turned a perceived grammatical mistake in a Valentine’s Day message into a national campaign! The message reached millions on Facebook and resulted in a petition to change the Italian language itself, all in the name of fighting prejudice. Watch the video below to see the results:
