Purpose: the purpose of this special interest group will be to:  connect and support women running independent agencies around the world

support the next generation of women who will follow your lead

help to market and connect women owned agencies to global brands looking to diversify their supply chains

  • 10:06am – Catherine Shuttleworth, Savvy Marketing – winner of the recent Alliance of Independent Agencies women agency award. Joining us from Spain on this occasion, hear her inspiring story and what she thinks an award-winning woman led agency looks like.

 

Catherine Shuttleworth
Catherine Shuttleworth is CEO and founder of Savvy Marketing. Catherine and her teams across the UK work with some of theworld’s best-known brands helping them to sell more. Named one of top 10 women in Retail Tech Catherine is a well-known commentator across the media talking most weeks about all things retail and business including on the BBC, ITV, in national press and radio. Catherine chairs a promotional panel for the Advertising Standards Association.

  • 10:26am – Fernando Desouches, BBD Perfect Storm, Director of New Macho and Melda Simon, UK Lead, Unstereotype Alliance

Fernando Desouches
Fernando Desouches is the Managing Director of the New Macho strategic division at BBD Perfect Storm in London. He helps brands grow through positive male narratives, creating platforms for companies like Unilever, PepsiCo, The Kraft Heinz Company, Bumble, and UN Women’s HeForShe. Fernando is a podcast regular and has spoken at events for the United Nations, The Marketing Society, Cannes Lions, Adweek EU/NY, and The Guardian. His insights are included in the curriculums at the University of Chicago and the University of Warwick. He serves on the boards of Equimundo: Center for Masculinities and Social Justice, and the Global Boyhood Initiative. Recognised by the IPA in their 2020 iList for promoting inclusivity, he was also named one of Campaign Magazine’s 40 Over 40 in 2022 and honoured by UN Women for his work with the Unstereotype Alliance.

Melda Simon
Melda Simon is the UK lead for the UN Women convened Unstereotype Alliance, a global action platform seeking to eradicate harmful stereotypes from media and advertising content. Comprised of 240 member organisations worldwide and 12 national chapters, the Unstereotype Alliance shares a powerful commitment to using advertising and media as a force for good, to create a more equal world. Melda has 20 years’ experience in brand purpose and sustainability working with some of the world’s largest agency networks and consumer brands including Gucci, Max Factor, Stella McCartney for Adidas. Prior to joining UN Women, Melda worked in-house at Unilever working at the intersection of DEI, sustainability, and brand marketing.
